The first Southern Arcana chat is live. I’m so excited by this, and thrilled that the ladies at Smexybooks, Fiction Vixen & Book Pushers were willing to put in so much time and energy. I first e-mailed Mandi back in December 2010, tentatively looking for someone who might be willing to help me give away a whoooole lot of free books and then maybe chat with readers about them. All organization since has been the loving & hard work of Mandi, Sophia & Nicole. We just provide the free stuff!

If you have any questions or comments for us, feel free to drop them here, as we’ll be steering clear of the chat post to give readers their own space. But tomorrow they’ll be giving away copies of Crossroads, and in a few weeks there will be another chat and more chances to win!

REVIEW COPIES! Oh my. But with Cipher due out in just under 6 weeks, I’m rounding up the author copies and getting ready to abuse my e-mail. As I’ve done with previous books in the series, I’ll be offering review copies of Cipher for those who have been hanging around for a while, and review copies of the first three books for those who are new or who might be a little behind.

Just two caveats: #1) all review copies are digital. #2) I’m going to ask that you only request a copy if you’re a reviewer or would like to post a review of the book somewhere on the internet. For those of you who are primarily readers, we’re giving away 120 copies (wheee!) of the various books in this series over the next few weeks, so you can probably get your hands on one.

So if you’d like a review copy, just fill out the form below. I’ll be fielding requests as I can and trying to get things out in an orderly fashion.

Use the form below to request a review copy of one of the books in the Southern Arcana series. If you haven't read earlier books in the series, you can pick whichever one you'd like to try, or ask for an ARC of Cipher. ALL REVIEW COPIES ARE DIGITAL.

I’ve been so excited about this, guys! When I sat down at the end of last year and tried to decide what I wanted to do for promotion for Cipher, I knew one thing–I wanted it to focus on readers and bloggers, and I wanted to give away a lot of books. A LOT OF BOOKS! Because at the end of the day, I just can’t bring myself to spend $500 on an ad in a magazine if I could spend $500 buying copies of my books for readers to try for themselves.

So that’s what we decided to do.

Three awesome blogs (Smexybooks, Fiction Vixen & The Bookpushers) will be giving away 120 books by the time it’s over, 30 of each of the first three and 10 copies of Cipher. They’ll also be hosting book discussions about each book as we count down the six weeks until Cipher, and we’ve provided them with those infamous refurbished kindle 2 3Gs that I keep posting pictures of on twitter. So you can win books! You can win kindles! (For international readers, you can still enter to win the kindle, but if you’re not sure you’ll be able to use it properly in your country, there will be substitute gift certificate prizes available.)

Pretty much this is just awesomeness cubed, and I am so, so glad that Mandi at Smexybooks was excited by the idea and that she, Sophia from Fiction Vixen and Nicole from The Book Pushers spent so much time and planning putting this together. We will be steering clear of the discussion posts to give y’all free reign to chat as you like without worrying that you’ll hurt our squishy feelings, but I’ll be sure to post over here after each read along, in case you’d like to ask us questions or leave any comments specifically.

The schedule of the first three giveaways are as follows:

July 20 Crux giveaway: Ends July 23, winners announced July 24
August 3 Crux chat at Smexy Books

August 4 Crossroads giveaway
August 17 Crossroads chat at Fiction Vixen

August 18 Deadlock giveaway
August 31st Deadlock chat at The Book Pushers

So if you’d like a chance to win a copy of Crux, head on over to: Smexybooks, Fiction Vixen & The Bookpushers. Each blog is giving away 10 copies!

And for those of you who have been asking, I will be doing review copies of Cipher, as well as offering review copies of the previous books for those interested. The form will go up on the blog by the end of the week. Because of the many, many chances to win the books that you’ll have over the next few weeks, I’ll ask you to only request review copies if you’d like to post a review on a blog or website, and for readers to enter the contests. With so many books to win, your chances are good.

And in closing…guess what comes out six weeks from yesterday?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! Book #4!

Wheeee! More fun today, and still keeping up with the Southern Arcana joy!

The Southern Arcana books are our longest novels (though that may change in 2012) and their length means Samhain puts them into print ~9-12 months after they come out in digital. I love ebooks, but I know some people prefer print, and this way I get a little bit of both worlds. Since the first two are now available in print, it’s time for a PRINT/ARC contest!

I’m so mean, I’m still going to make you choose. You can ask for a print version of Crux or Crossroads, or you can ask for a digital ARC of Deadlock. (Pick one!)

Southern Arcana – in Print

Crux- Southern Arcana #1

Jackson Holt makes a decent living as a private investigator in New Orleans, home of one of the largest underground supernatural populations in the United States. He and his partners have never met a case they couldn’t crack…until a local bar owner asks him to do a little digging on her newest hire.

New Orleans is the fourth destination in as many months for Mackenzie Brooks, a woman on the run from a deranged stalker. After all, any man who shows up on her doorstep claiming to be her destined lover has more than a few screws loose. But crazy doesn’t explain why he always finds her no matter how far she runs.

When her well-meaning boss puts a PI on her case, Mackenzie comes face to face with the incredible truth: magic is real, and whatever spell has kept her hidden and separate from the paranormal world is rapidly deteriorating.

With time running out, she has no choice but to trust Jackson as he struggles to uncover the truth of her past-and her destiny.

Crossroads- Southern Arcana #2
Derek Gabriel was born human in family of psychics, aware of the supernatural world but never a part of it…until a rogue shapeshifter took humanity from him in a vicious attack. He’s spent two years struggling to adjust, not just to a change that’s driven many insane, but also to the prejudices of a culture where transformed wolves are considered inferior. A serious struggle, indeed, when the woman who attracts the man and the wolf inside him is the daughter of the most powerful wolf in the country.

For Nicole Peyton, nothing is more important than escaping the stifling confines of elite shapeshifter society, an old-fashioned world where women are valued only for their bloodlines and bank accounts. In New Orleans, she has a bar she loves, friends she cares for, and a smoldering, unspoken tension with an unsuitable but incredibly attractive man.

Neither could predict how quickly forbidden longing would erupt into burning need, but Nick and Derek have more than themselves to think about when Nick’s sister arrives in the city with a shapeshifter strike team hard on her heels. The only way Nick can save her sister may be to play by the Conclave’s rules–but it will mean giving up the man she’s falling in love with, unless he’s willing to risk everything in a challenge that will shake the foundations of their world.

Digital ARC of Deadlock

Deadlock comes out January 4th, but here’s your chance to read it sooner!

Deadlock- Southern Arcana #3
Abandoned by her wolf shifter father and raised by her human psychic mother, Carmen Mendoza can’t deny she’s different. She craves things most women shy away from–and she has a trail of shapeshifting ex-boyfriends to prove it.

Working at a clinic for supernatural creatures, she’s escaped the notice of her father’s legacy-obsessed family. Until they need a pawn in their bid for power. Snared by a vicious spell designed to wake her inner wolf, Carmen’s only hope is to trust the one man strong enough to soothe her darkest instincts.

Alec Jacobson was once the heir apparent to the wolves’ ruling elite, until he walked away to marry the woman he loved. She paid with her life. He lives as a rebel, a black-sheep alpha who protects the supernatural residents of New Orleans from the wolves’ barbaric class system. Too bad he can’t protect himself from his need for Carmen.

Yet staking his claim on his enemy’s niece will turn his city into a battleground. Unless he can find a way to stop breaking the rules–and start making them.

* * *

Remember to leave a comment picking one! (I’m sorry I have to keep repeating that, but you’d be amazed by how few people read the directions. And I know you’d be amazed because you’re reading them, while a few people are skimming right past this in their haste to leave a comment asking for all of them.)

It’s day four of my wacky, unplanned, wild & fun contest, where I’m giving stuff away left, right & center. What’s on tap today?

Southern Arcana

A series so wacky, we’re going to give it two days. (Or maybe three. See what I said about not planning? Ha!)

Today is all about the first two books in the series, Crux and Crossroads. I’m giving away a digital copy of each, so all you have to do is decide which one you fancy. As a bonus round, I’ll be giving away a couple copies of Zola’s Pride, a story that (until now) could only be found in the Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance 2.

* * *

* * *

Zola’s Pride doesn’t have a cover or a blurb, per se, but I can tell you that it’s the story of how New Orleans’ only lion shifter (and karate instructor to the supernatural world) decides to share her territory with an old flame, and saves his life in the process.

Remember, to enter you must leave a comment saying which of the three prizes you want to win! (You have to pick one. If you don’t, I won’t pick you.)

There’s lots going on over the next few months, so I’m getting started early with the review copies and ARCs and seeing who wants what.

If you’re interested in the Southern Arcana series, or think you might be interested in seeing if you want to be interested in it, head on over here: http://moirarogers.com/review-deadlock (Don’t let the URL fool you, there are copies of Crux & Crossroads available, too, as well as chances to share a book with your friends or give one away in a contest!

Wheeee! As some of you probably know, Donna and I worked at Barnes & Noble for a few (many) years. So it’s cool to know they haven’t forgotten us…or that they’re at least willing to give us a little attention. Look at Crux partying all over the store!

That’s a little Samhain author party there! No Surrender is by Shannon Stacey, the one to the right is Need Me by Shelli Stevens (who has a new release at MBAM this week!) And Body Rush by Anne Rainey is hanging out to the left of Crux.

We don’t see our books on shelves all that often. Getting them there as a small press author can be tough when shelf space is at such a premium. So this? This is a pretty cool day.
