Ever wonder what it would be like to kiss an alien? Sure, you have. Okay, maybe you haven’t, but I did. Of course, I never pictured them all green and scaly or with those big upside-down-pear-shaped heads and glassy eyes. I saw them more like Hugh Jackman. Or Gerard Butler. Yum. My aliens would be gorgeous, oh and they’d have “special powers.” Yep, you know what I mean. That’s my kinda aliens.

Well, the last book I loved about aliens was in the 80′s–remember The Outsider by Barbara Delinski? Loved that book. Sadly, she never wrote another one like it, so I made up my own. Created an alien and named him Butch (after a stuffed blue dog I had as a kid, but that’s hardly relevant), stuck him on Earth as a criminal, and among other things, gave him the power of the palm. Ah, the palm…

Here’s the first time we see it in the story:

His instincts told him to simply radiate a palmful of calm over her, and that would end the unpleasantness, but he’d known other Viven who had their sentences extended on Earth for years for that kind of slip. Besides, it wasn’t too tough to picture where that would lead — clutching the long strands of her hair in his hands, holding her mouth to his as he thrust inside her. Strange that his instincts were moving in that direction. On Earth, for almost ten years now, he’d never once considered it. Until now.

Who’s this woman he’s considering? One he must protect from a marauding fellow alien, but not just any woman–Claire Simonson–a woman who doesn’t want to be protected. At all.

Then things turned wild–sexy, dangerous, and full of intrigue. More special powers. The military. Family–and like most families, filled with secrets that always come out.

The blurb:

Undercover extraterrestrial Butch Markham is hanging out until the mother ship comes back. Trouble is while he’s waiting, he has to guard the inimitable Claire Simonson. Good thing, too, because after two attempts on her life, it’s abundantly clear these are some serious-ass ET’s with plans for her–and it ain’t a week in Bermuda.

From Claire’s point of view, Butch is a handsome, hunky, annoying pain–he knows it, and doesn’t care. He’s taking over her life–no more working, no going out–just him right next to her every minute. Hard to tell which is worse: the possibility that the killer will finally get to her or that Butch will.

So fun to write I ended up writing two more stories in the same world–I’ll keep you posted on those. Meanwhile, Deep Cover comes out on June 16th, and I’d love to hear what you think of it. Send me an email after you read it, and I’ll send you a freebie story. Two for one–that’s how we roll in alienland.

Bree’s Question to You: Moira Reid has generously offered to give one lucky reader a digital copy of Deep Cover.  For a chance to win an ebook answer me this question: who is the hottest alien around?  (You have until Friday, June 19th!)

Personally, I’m going to cheat and go with Han Solo. He’s an alien, right? (RIGHT?)

  1. Capella says:

    If Han Solo counts, does that mean Carth Onasi counts? Because I totally want Carth. And since they’re from Corellia/Telos/planets in another galaxy, that makes them extraterrestrial enough for me!

  2. Nicole Hicks says:

    oh how about Douglas Christopher Judge as TEAL’C from Stargate SG*1 he is HOT! Those arms! That body! Oh where is my drool rag? LOL

  3. Karen in TN says:

    I’d have to go with Mork. Much cuter than ET (and in pretty darn decent shape).

  4. Donna says:

    @Capella: Woman, I will FIGHT YOU for Carth Onasi. He’s the reason I can never quite bring myself to be an evil heinous bitch in KotoR. I don’t like when he chides me and gives me the disappointed speeches! LOL

  5. Bree says:

    @Donna

    I don’t like when he chides me and gives me the disappointed speeches!

    I do. *leer* Chastise me, Carth Onasi! I’m a bad girl who needs redemption!

  6. Pamk says:

    Ever read Judy Mays Celestial Season. I have to say all of her hero. But Ban holds a special place in my heart even though he doesn’t have a tail.

  7. Moira Reid says:

    Mork was a good choice! An alien that is funny is always high on my list! :-) Gonna have to Google this Carth fella. Sounds intriguing. And PamK likes tails on her heros. Maybe the next book, for ya gal. Butch doesn’t have a tail…LOL

  8. Maija P. says:

    I don’t know whether Kel-Paten (from Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair) counts as alien. He lives in space and is half-machine… I liked him :)

  9. Capella says:

    @Donna:

    See, that’s why I played neutral in the first game: so I could still use dark side powers without the light sider penalty points, but NOT have Carth yell at me.

    @Donna and @Bree

    Did either of you see the cut ending for Dark Side Females? Where Carth comes and redeems you? I LOVE that ending so much!

  10. I have to agree, Mork would be my choice. He’s not hunky or anything but he still cracks me up. I loved when he showed up on Happy Days before Mork & Mindy.

  11. Ayla says:

    ok, i have to say CAPTAIN JACK from torchwood *swoon*. and if i can’t have him i’d settle for the Doctor himself (David Tennent regen)

  12. I think my posts are getting eaten. I know I posted the other day on this one and it’s gone.

    I posted about Mork. Gotta love him. He was may favorite when he showed up on Happy Days.

  13. Shadow says:

    The hottest alien around is Thor for the book Quartz by Michelle m Pillow. At least i think he counts. There in space and he can shapeshift into any alien. And when he shapeshifts..wow. :)
