Cry Sanctuary Story Casting Winners

Posted on June 3, 2009 by

So last week we invited everyone to head to Story Casting and enter a cast for Cry Sanctuary.  It was an entertaining adventure, and the site already as a troll! Keith & AbbyI gotta say, I can’t see Jessica Alba as Joe any more than I can see her as Ryan in Diana Rowland’s Mark of the Demon. (I’m telling you, Eric Dane FTW!)

There were a surprising number of takers, but we actually had a few people agree on Keith and Abby. 5 out of 13 people picked Jennifer Garner as Abby.  3 out of 12 picked David Boreanez for Keith.  Neither of those are our (not very) top-sekrit personal choices, but I think we can both get behind them.  Especially Jennifer Garner, who can do sweet AND badass with amazing skill.  So hey, maybe we should consider them the unofficial official cast? :D

As promised, Donna and I have picked two of the entries to win an advance reader copy of the sequel, Sanctuary Lost. We each picked our favorite cast based on arbitrary criteria perhaps slightly influenced by caffeine and giddiness.  And which casts struck our fancy?

Bree’s Pick: joyroett

Joy's Cast

Says Bree: I’m not sure what my favorite part about this cast is, but it might be Julianne Moore as Sam & James McAvoy as Dylan. (Okay, Hugh Jackman is a pretty badass Keith too… wouldn’t say no to that! LOL)  But Julianne Moore is a perfect Sam and I’d never even thought of her!  She could kick yo’ ass and don’t you forget it! And I bet James McAvoy could pull off quiet an assuming with a backbone of steel and will of iron.

Says Donna: I think my favorite part of Joy’s cast is either Jason Statham as Joe or Reese Witherspoon as Cindy.  Those two are awesome.  I mean, Statham would blow shit up, and Witherspoon could do “sort of cranky smart blonde.”  Which describes Cindy pretty well, actually.

Donna’s Pick: snulfers

Joy's Cast

Says Donna: Are you kidding?  I could totally get behind this cast.  Natalie Portman can do quiet and soulful, and we’ve all seen Jensen Ackles kick ass and take names.  And the secondaries are spot-on too.  I love Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel Weisz, and Paul Bettany could certainly pull off Joe’s, um, studied insouciance.  LOL  As for Michael Clarke Duncan and Queen Latifah as Gavin and Sam, well…  I can’t think of two people who would make me feel safer if I found myself in need of sanctuary.  LOL

Says Bree: Oh hellz YEAH to Queen Latifah & Michael Clarke Duncan. If I were an Alan Matthews-playing-Tom Welling I’d be running for the hills.  Or, you know, running away from the hills, since that’s where they are.

Thank you to everyone for playing! And don’t forget, Sanctuary Lost comes out on June 9th!

Sanctuary Lost Cover If there’s one thing that Brynn Adler hates, it’s feeling helpless and vulnerable in unfamiliar territory. Three weeks ago, life tossed her into a just such a world. A world of werewolves she never knew existed-until she found out her sister is one of them.

The pack seems determined to hurry her back to the normal world of humans. But after everything she’s witnessed, she’s not sure she wants to go-especially if it means leaving not only her sister behind, but the one man who makes her forget her life is falling apart.

Now all she has to do is convince him to agree to a plan to force the pack to let her stay.

Joe Mitchell has been battling his protective instincts since he rescued Brynn from her kidnapper. Getting involved with her is a bad idea for a lot of reasons. She’s on shaky emotional ground, and a supernatural war is no place for a human woman. He’s not about to let her make a hasty decision, one that will only bring her pain and regret.

Now all he has to do is let her go.

  2. I’m totally sold on Eric Dane as Ryan Kristoff! Much better than Jessica Alba..LOL I’m kinda wondering about casting Jessica as the bartender, too… since there’s no bartender in the book! *snort*

@Diana They were more creative on Cry Sanctuary–they cast Some Random Person to pay the bills. Hey, what can I say…I love a troll with a sense of humor. ;)

And yes! Ryan = Eric Dane! And speaking of that…we’ve got to finish our round of 20 Questions to send to you.
