New projects are exciting!
As Bree has mentioned, we’ve been sucked up in a whirlwind of writing and deadlines and edits lately. The upside to staying busy is…well, staying busy. LOL You can’t knock it, that’s for sure. The downside is that sometimes finishing projects is supertough.
Why? Because you’ve usually long left behind that initial spark that kicked things off in the first place. That’s not to say the work has gone to crap or you don’t still love it, it’s just kind of like running a marathon. At first you’re psyched, totally ready. Right around the middle, you start feeling it. And, somewhere just before you hit the home stretch, you kind of wish you’d gone for pizza and beer instead of running your fool head off for 10 kilometers or whatever.
Of course, then you finish. You actually finish, and it’s the awesomest thing ever. That’s the feeling I live for. Well, that and starting a new project.
Which is what we’re doing now. We just finished our second Changeling series, the last Red Rock book is in the blocking stages, and we’re almost finished with the sequel to Crux. For reasons having to do with preserving what’s left of Bree’s sanity, we can’t start the third Southern Arcana book until we finish this last Red Rock book (and it’d be nice if we had that second book contracted first, honestly). So it’s time for a new series.
We’ve been brainstorming and planning this one for a while, and I’m really excited about it. Best of all, I get to write an awesome, badass hero, and I’m really looking forward to it. Most of the time, my heroes are more the snarky type you’d never dream of being dangerous until they hand you your ass. This hero definitely offers a change of pace, as well as a challenge.
So, I think we’re taking the holiday weekend (mostly) off, and then we get to play with our new toys. LOL
