As one of the remaining cougar shapeshifters in North America, Steven’s led a lonely life. Tragedy and intrigue in his younger years left him with a lot of guilt and a lot to atone for. Maybe that’s why he’s spent the last two decades dedicating his life to protecting what remains of his kind. It’s too bad that kept him from settling down anywhere–or with anyone–who might make him happy.
Steven has been friends with Mahalia Tate for years and considers her one of his most valuable contacts. Maybe if things were different, she would have been something else…

I can’t help but think there might still be a chance of something other than friendship, especially after the info on Mahalia. Of course, maybe I’ll get a better feel for it when I get a chance to read CRUX after I’m done with all the essays I need to write before next Monday. *sigh*
