This is your brain on Red Rock Pass…

Yes, it’s one of THOSE days again, where I’ve got Red Rock Pass on the brain!  Must be because last night we might have broken the series a tiny bit with the following words:

Vampire Lumberjack.

Some of you may know that the Lumberjack Vampire is a particular favorite of mine, something I travel the internet in search of and bring up constantly as the exception to my general, “Vamps Are Not Hot” rule.  (I also allow exceptions for snarky and/or ironic vampires.  What I really dislike is emo brooding.  It shouldn’t be hard to guess where I fall on the Spike vs Angel debate.)

So.  The other night Donna and I had one of those conversations that consisted of nothing but weird internet lingo squealed all in caps.  Eliza Gayle, Lissa Matthews and L. Shannon were present for it, and I’m pretty sure they just sat very still and made no sudden movements lest the rampaging wonder twins turn that crazy on them.  The odd thing is, even though we spoke entirely in acronyms, thanks to our psychic connection (or shared insanity) we both knew what we’d just done.

We’d just changed the entire arc of the series to allow a 4th book with a new hero.  Vampire Lumberjack (or VL as he will be called for short) will join Keith, Joe and Dylan.  The funniest thing is, even though these books are HIGHLY werewolf focused (every couple involves at least one werewolf, and the first two involve two) Book #3 does involve a good bit of vampire villain action, and having a vampire good-guy to help them out would make life so much easier.

Even if it means we maaaybe broke the series a wee little bit.  Just a smidge.  ;)

While I’m discussing Red Rock Pass, how about a little tease? Are you wondering what this picture to the left is yet? That, my friends, is what happens when you have a friend who is an amazing artist and a copy of photoshop.  I’ve snipped out a little tease peek there because I just can’t keep myself from sharing.  This is original artwork of Keith and Abby, done by the fabulously talented Nancey Lorenz.  I’m planning to feature a blog post on her and her work later on, because I have always been impressed with her beautiful talent.  Once in 2001 I got to sit and watch her sketch something, and she just flies.  This is the sort of artwork that makes me super jealous.

The completed artwork will be coming to life in some promo items before too long, and hopefully any of you who like the looks of it will have a chance to get their hands on something pretty.  (I personally can’t stop staring at it!  Keith is a HUNK, huh?  God, it’s so perfect!)

And speaking of Keith being a hunk… (I could possibly transition every conversation I have with that) we got a new review from The Good, The Bad & The Unread.  The lovely Sandy M. agrees with me on Keith’s hotness, and had this to say about Keith & Abby:

Keith and Abby are a very strong hero and heroine.  Even though Keith has some emotional baggage from his prior Guide days, he has to learn to leave his guilt behind now that he’s found Abby, and with her he definitely can do that.  In between all that, he’s lethal at his job and a lover who can make any woman hot and bothered.  He made me shiver every time he wanted to rub his scent all over Abby. And their love scenes are powerful. Abby is definitely his equal in every aspect of their lives.

You can read the whole review here.  I won’t lie, there might have been some giggling involved.  Giggling and blushing, because she did say some very nice things.  :)   Thank you, Sandy!

Wow, this has turned in to quite a post.  I suppose it’s time to skedaddle and get back to writing Red Rock Pass Book 3.  Spoiler alert: there may be a Vampire Lumberjack in it.  Muahahahaha…

(Mine is an evil laugh.)

That is a great review! Well deserved, of course. ;)

LV sounds yummy. I have to agree that having a vamp on their side will definitely help the werewolves deal with the villainous vamps they may come across.

  2. Karin says:

    Er, VL, not LV. lol

  3. Bree says:

Thanks, Karin! I am really looking forward to VL (LV works too… LOL). I suppose I just need to give him a name already, huh? He is going to be so much fun. And with the trouble Dylan is getting up to in book three, he’ll need all the help he can get! :D

Vampire Lumberjack sounds awesome. And that conversation sounds hilarious. Going to share any clips to see if anyone can understand the crazy acronyms?

  5. Bree says:

I would, Capella, but the clips would be spoilery. :D There might have been some _____/VAMPIRE LUMBERJACK OTP? Alas, that _____ shall have to remain blank… for now. Muahahaha.
