Apocalyptathon - 30 Days of World Ending Romance

Welcome Eden Bradley, author of The Breeder!

Want a taste of the apocalypse but don’t have time for a full novel?  Eden Bradley and three of her author friends got together to write a connected series in a post-apocalyptic world.  Each story is short and wicked, and today Eden Bradley is giving away her novella so you can have a taste!

End of the World Chat

Describe your book in one or two sentences, preferably ones that would sound good read by Mr. Moviefone.

In Wasteland: The Breeder Nitara is destined to repopulate a scourged earth, a prisoner of the Temple of the Great Goddess. But when she meets the Wanderer Akaash, the man she must sacrifice her virginity to, her world may change forever.

Your book broke (or at least greatly endangered) your characters’ future. Are you a vengeful god, or did you do it for their own good?

In creating the world of the Wasteland we were vengeful gods (‘we’, because the Wasteland is a continuity series written with RG Alexander, Crystal Jordan and Lilli Feisty). We were especially rough on the women. In most of the sub-cultures we set up-other than Crystal’s Wanderers-they have no voice, no rights, and are used as basically sexual slaves in one form or another. Wow-we’re bitches-lol!

But the journey I set out for my characters was definitely for their own good-and perhaps for the good of the entire world structure. Having two men for each woman can save the world-our point is proven. *G*

The zombies are coming. Be honest. Are you a survivor, or zombie bait? Be sure to tell us why.

Oh, I am SO zombie bait! I’m a total girlie-girl. I can’t fight, can’t shoot a gun, and I’m not a fast runner. And honestly, if there’s no more shoe stores and lip gloss, I don’t really wanna live, anyway.

The Day After Tomorrow is here…what three books would you pick to save, if they were the only books you’d have to read for the rest of your life?

The Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee, Time Enough For Love by Robert Heinlein and either Belinda or Exit to Eden by Anne Rice-don’t make me decide!

Which type of apocalypse do you think you’re most prepared to survive?

None-lol! I’ll probably be the first one to die. I’m just hoping I have access to a large stash of sleeping pills or something equally gentle to go out with in case I do survive the initial blast-or whatever makes the world end. Apparently I have no survival instinct. Suicide pact, anyone?

Zombie Bedtime Stories

The BreederDestined to serve the desires of an entire city, all she wants is one man. Or maybe two…

Born to the Temple, Nitara knows the Great Goddess’s plan for her: to bring life into what is left of an arid and wasted Earth. Since puberty she has been trained to arouse and titillate, to ensure the continuation of the human race.

As is the custom, the man captured for her is strong of blood, though considered little more than a wild animal. Yet when she looks into his eyes, she sees no primitive creature, but the man whose face and hands haunt her sensual dreams.

For Akaash, a hunter and warrior, it’s his shame that he will be sacrificed to a goddess he doesn’t believe in, for a people who are not his own, leaving behind his Wanderer clan—and his bonded lover, Dhatri. Locked in the bowels of the Temple, he has a month to ponder his fate, all while falling helplessly under the spell of the virgin temptress who will soon take his life.

With each tortuously erotic encounter, however, Akaash realizes that Nitara is as much a prisoner as he. If he can just get a message out to Dhatri, there may be a slim chance both of them can escape…

  1. Ferishia says:

I found the response to ‘Your book broke…’ interesting. Especially the parts listing the awesome other authors and it was a continuation of a series. I’m going to have to look into that.

  2. Zeneida says:

Very interesting blob. I will look into it. Love her humor in the interview. :)

  3. Jackie U says:

I’m always interested to see how authors handle the woman-as-subservient angle without making me see red. : ) It can be done, and done well, and judging by Eden’s talent (her books are AWESOME!), I have a feeling I won’t be disappointed!!

(Uh…yeah…that’s what most intrigued me by the interview, lol)

  4. Stephanie G says:

I want to know more about Akaash and how he got captured. He sounds like my kind of hero.

  5. Fedora says:

LOL! Suicide pact in case of a zombie apocalypse! But only if we’re wearing our cute shoes, OK? I want to take those with me! ;) Love your description of how the four of you tormented your characters–but you do it so beautifully!

  6. Louise says:

Great interview! I love that she’s resigned to the fact she’ll be the first to die in the apocalypse. That’s me, too! The book sounds interesting.

  7. Chelsea B. says:

“And honestly, if there’s no more shoe stores and lip gloss, I don’t really wanna live, anyway.” AMEN!! I am so with you on that!! It’s one thing to read about, but really…. I would be so pathetic in an apocalypse that zombies wouldn’t even WANT to eat me!

  8. Ashley L says:

Love the blurb on the book. Got to have this one!

  9. JeanP says:

A very intriguing blurb. I am with you on the “And honestly, if there’s no more shoe stores and lip gloss, I don’t really wanna live, anyway.” No more shoe stores that would be so terrible.

  10. Na S. says:

This sounds like an exotic read with a warrior and a goddess.

  11. Joder says:

I’m intrigued that this is one of a series of books. I’d love to see how they’re connected and seeing how the people in this world get by.

  12. JOYE says:

Enjoyed reading your comments. The book sounds great.
    This is a great contest.

  13. Brenda Hyde says:

Never fear, I will protect you in the case of zombies. Well, okay…my husband and two teen boys are are well versed in zombie knowledge will protect you along with me and my daughter. We can just stand behind them yelling “EWWWWWW…what is that hanging from that zombie’s face?”

I LOVE the cover on The Breeder!

  14. Denise D/LolaLovesBooks says:

Hmmm…Shoes, lip-gloss and a suicide pact? Might be the beginnings of a YA/emo story. Really, Eden, there you go with the shoes – AGAIN! (Or should I say still?) We’re going to Zappos instead of lunch next time you’re in Vegas :-)

  15. SarahM says:

Great post! Had to laugh when you said life wouldn’t be worth living without shoes and lip gloss :-) Thanks for the giveaway!

  16. chey says:

I’m intrigued by rading “to bring life into what is left of an arid and wasted Earth”

  17. Susan says:

No Shoe Stores!!! What would be the point! This series sound interesting. I’ve looked at this series before now I need to REALLY look into it.

  18. Vanessa N. says:

The blurb was great and I can’t wait to find out what happens. Thanks for the chance.

  19. Jen B. says:

The concept of the book is kind of chilling. I can’t imagine being raised knowing your job is to continue the human race.

  20. Barbara says:

You can’t be the first to die because that’ll probably be me, fainting at the first sight of bad stuff happening and becoming instant zombie-snack. I don’t know about this two men for every woman thing. I have a hard enough time cleaning up after the one I have when he’s home from school a handful of months out of the year. ;)

  21. Nancy Gilliland says:

This is one of my favorites, although the other three in the series follow closely behind it. The Wasteland collectively is a fantastic post apocalyptic world.

  22. Cassandra Myers says:

Having two men for each woman could be interesting as long as they’re just boy toys for breeding don’t need them hanging around to clean up after them lol

  23. Mary Preston says:

“In creating the world of the Wasteland we were vengeful gods ” – I want to know why they were vengeful.

    marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com

  24. Tracey D says:

Akaash intrigues me. He’s been captured and he seems to be a proud man. He’s a warrior and a hunter who is in a shameful predicament.

  25. Myranda says:

I love the Wasteland books! They’re great. I love that Eden Bradley would be Zombie Bait because that’s what I would be too!

  26. Tamsyn says:

I may join in the suicide pact. I’m a wimp and so not equip to survive without all the conveniences of life!

    tamsyn5(at)yahoo(dot)com

  27. Anne says:

I’m curious as to why they have to kill the men after the month is up and if Dhatri is a man or woman.

  28. The blurb on the book sounded interesting and makes me want to see if man #2 is the one male slave is trying to contact. Love her responses to the interview as well.

  29. aurian says:

I totally agree with you: I don’t want to be one of the few survivors of apocalypse. Just let me die without me knowing it.

This sentence did it for me: For Akaash, a hunter and warrior, it’s his shame that he will be sacrificed to a goddess he doesn’t believe in, for a people who are not his own, leaving behind his Wanderer clan—and his bonded lover, Dhatri. Locked in the bowels of the Temple, he has a month to ponder his fate, all while falling helplessly under the spell of the virgin temptress who will soon take his life.

I am very intrigued by those differences. And how they captured him.

  30. Ohmygosh-you guys are cracking me up! And I’m so sorry I was offline yesterday!
Jackie-thank you for the lovely compliment-making me blush. :)
Brenda-I’m hiding behind your dh and sons!
Denise-now I wanna come back to Vegas-like now!
Barbara-lol! True enough-one man is hard to take care of. But Nitara will be living in a cave or a tent with them, so less room to make a mess. :)
Mary-we were vengeful gods in creating Wasteland because conflict makes for a good story-one advantage in being a writer is that we get to take out our angst on our characters-lol!
Anne-the Breeders kill the man who they sacrifice their virginity to because those men are always captured Wanderers-the people of the Temple and the city see them as nothing more than animals living in the Wasteland-they are the rebels, people who can’t be controlled.
Dhatri is all man-the best warrior of Akaash’s clan.
Thank you, Moira, for having me here! Going off to buy some shoes now…;)

  31. Eva P. says:

The part that really pulled is ‘when she see the man and hands who haunts her sensual dreams’ love that. Thanks for having such a great giveaway! :)

  32. Ellen K says:

The part about not surviving the zombie apocalypse was interesting because, as much as I may say otherwise, I think I’m in that same boat with you.

  33. Glad I’m not the only apocalypse wimp-lol!

  34. Ilona says:

I’ve ahd this series on my wish lsit since I first read about it.

I think I could be a survivor of an apocolypse if there are zombies involved as my sons have drilled it into me what I should do to kill them (I believe a fire axe and a sharp object are constantly mentioned :D )

  35. Dawn says:

Lol just thinking of Eden trying to run from a zombie in those amazing shoes she wears have me laughing! This is a fantastic book if you don’t win it or haven’t read it – it is a MUST READ people! I love Anne Rice’s book Belinda as well Eden but think I’d take the Beauty Trilogy :)

  36. KittyKelly says:

Don’t worry Eden I’m totally dead too! ;) I’ll start a pact with you. I’ve missed you lately hope you are letting yourself breathe for a little bit :)

    KittyKelly

  37. Ilona-how does one acquire a fire axe? We may need to know!

  38. Andrea L says:

Your cover is gorgeous. That alone made we want to read the book. Then I read the blurb and said, “Yup!”

  39. Julie comins says:

I don’t want to stick around too long without boots or lipbalm, but I do know whereto find find fire axes and haligan tools which are even better, so I’ll fill abag with good good balms put on my zombee kicking bootes protect the Smuteesif I must my whole fridge is coveredwith mini mags ofthis cover i’m either gonna turn them into magnetic bookmarks , zombee armor or some kind of zombee weapon.
I think i’d like to be a breeder if I was young enough.

  40. Rhianna says:

I’ve had the four of this novellas on my radar for a while now. The titles and the concept are quite titilating. :) After watching Game of Thrones and how the women there are pretty much nothing but currency I should be disgusted by sex-slave stories lol ah well…

  41. Kendra Edens says:

Oh my! Nitara is fated to give her virginity to Akaash, but he is bonded to Dahtri already? That is an interesting twist! Added to my to-read list!

  42. Lindsey E says:

I enjoyed this series and it was a world that I would like to visit again.
