[Kindle Contest: January] Let’s Chat About Psychics

Posted on January 17, 2011 by

As I mentioned previously, Donna and I are hoping to spread the ereader love in 2011 by giving away one ereader a month.  These giveaways will be focused around chatty posts of some sort.  A random winner will be chosen from all meaningful comments.  (See small print below.)

This month it’s a Kindle 3, WiFi edition.  I just got one of these pretty little things, and I’m kinda in love with it.  Does that mean I should pause for pictures?

Yeah, I should.

Kindle 3

(Yeah, it has Deadlock on it! What else should I have put on there as the first book? :D I was really excited about Deadlock…and the kindle 3.)

Lucas by Eliza GayleNow, my kindle is even more pretty because I have a sweet looking skin I got from Decal Girl.  And because she’s awesome, Eliza Gayle, author of erotic paranormal romance, has offered to throw in a $15 gift certificate to Decal Girl to the winner of this contest.  $15 will buy you your very own Kindle 3 skin!

So many thanks to Eliza, and make sure to check out her Black Cougar books on Amazon.  At $2.99, they’re a bargain!

So how do you get in on this awesome contest to win a kindle 3 (wi-fi version) and a pretty skin?

Let’s Talk Psychics

Deadlock CoverDeadlock came out this month, featuring our very favorite type of psychic–an empath!  Carmen can sense the emotions of those around her, and sometimes influence them by projecting a calming aura.  It makes her a useful partner for Alec, who could use a permanent calming aura directed his way.  (In my opinion.)

We love empaths, and have three of them currently running about in the Southern Arcana universe with various degrees of power, control and skill.  But they’re not the only ones we show the love to!  We have telepaths (read thoughts), precogs (see glimpses of the future), technopaths (manipulate machines with their mind), telekinetics (move things with their mind) and a few more who have yet to be revealed.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it…leave a comment and do (at least one of) the following:

  1. Tell us: which is the most powerful psychic power out of the following: empathy, precognition, technopathy, telepathy & telekinesis.
  2. Tell us why! Defend your reason, to the death (or to the pain) if necessary.
  3. Feel free to argue (in good fun! don’t get too mean) with other people’s reasons. They’re wrong, clearly, and you’re right.
  4. Bonus round: if you could have ONE of these powers, which would it be, and why?

Four easy ways to enter, and to the victor goes the spoils!

Now for the boring small print.  (I made it small, too, but only so it would take up less room.)

1) You can enter multiple times by leaving multiple comments, but if you copy & paste the same comment multiple times, only the first comment will count.  Please abide by the spirit of conversation, scout’s honor. 2) Contest ends January 31st, 2011. 3) One participant per household. IP logging is on, posting with multiple e-mail addresses from the same IP address will disqualify you.  4)  No purchase necessary to enter, void where prohibited, odds of winning dependent on number of entries. 5) Winner will be drawn on January 31st and prize will be awarded in the form of a $140 gift certificate to Amazon. No substitutions.

To make arguing more fun, we do have nested comments.  You can hover over a comment and a “reply” tab should appear.  If you click that, the reply box will appear directly beneath the comment, and it will be nested and conversationy!

Have at it, y’all!

I would say telepathy, the idea of know what others are thinking just seems like so much responsibility!

Telekinesis is the most powerful and the one that I would want if given the choice. The power to move things with your mind would be killer!

I think empathy has the most power. I have it, and there have been amazing things that have happened to me because of it. There are so many miracles that come when you open your heart with love, and live by your heart. When you provide a miracle for someone else, it comes back enhanced later when you need it.

  5. Alisha S. says:

Oh, I’d definitely go with telekinesis, with technopath a close second. Empaths, telepaths and precogs must be some messed-up, haunted souls…because so much of the dark, unmentionable side of humanity stays inside the mind. It’d be too much of a head-trip to tap into that.

Now, with telekinesis you’ve got a practical gift. Too tired to get up and grab the remote? No problem. Someone being an a-hole to you? Trip them on the DL. ^__^ Now THAT’S a power to bank on.

  6. susan smoaks says:

i think that precognition is the most powerful because you can tell things before they happen!

  7. Stephanie Bruce says:

I would like telekinesis. I could use it to enter sweepstakes on two computers, do housework while sittin on the couch enjoying one of my shows

  8. Heather W says:

    I’d have to say precognition

  10. Kellie Conklin says:

If I could have one of these powers I would like to have precognition! I think it would be awesome to see small glimpses of the future although I can see it backfiring at times (That’s So Raven anyone?). Still I would like to have the power!

  11. Amy Delong says:

  20. Dawn Vaeoso says:

I’d have to say Empathy – empathy is a psychic ability to sense the emotions of others and often highly aware of the health and state of mind of their loved ones, no matter how physically near or far away the individuals may be. It can be challenging for Empaths to function healthily in society if they are unaware that they have this sensitivity and often opt to be alone.
