Week In Review: February 24th, 2008

The biggest news of the week is the best… We finished Humanity’s Last Hope! The first draft clocked in just under 37,000 words. It has been sent off to be ripped apart by a few lovely people in our critique group, after which we will probably have at it again. The story turned out to be a bit more involved than we had expected, and about 10,000 words longer than we’d planned. Some of that will probably get cut down in editing, though.

It has been a long, long week. Both of us are sick, and both of us got the dreaded hormones of severe PMS (on the same day, of course, as it should be clear by now that we apparently do everything together), so productivity took a hit. Still, we almost averaged our 2k/day, and our monthly average is still over it.

Other news, in no particular order:

  • Eion Bailey was Monday’s eyecandy. Tomorrow is Diego Luna. Mmmmm. Gorgeous men.
  • Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Deadpool in the Wolverine Movie! Ryan Reynolds at his sarcastic, smartass best alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? Can life get much better? (Answer: only if they both wore nothing but tight jeans, wifebeaters and huge ass belt buckles for the whole time.)
  • Donna blogged about research again, this time story research. She will make phone calls to stores on the other side of the country before she puts a detail in a story that she thinks is incorrect.
  • We got the covers for our two stories coming out from The Wild Rose Press later this year.
  • Bree blogged about how romance can be a farce in real life.
  • This week’s sneak peek is an introduction to the two ghosts who star opposite our hero and heroine in Widow’s Watch.
  • Now that Humanity’s Last Hope is done, we’re starting our next project…a short story around 15k about rival grad students who both get the opportunity to explore the town’s most haunted house on Halloween.
