Read An Ebook Week: Alisha Rai

It’s day three and I challenged Alisha Rai to show up and school Keith in how interview questions should be answered. (I’m not sure if Alisha is my enemy or ally…it does seem to change from day to day, but at the moment we are united against Keith. That may have changed by the time I post this.)
Alisha writes hot romance and we are so looking forward to sharing a release date with her on June 1st! But for now, here’s a little info on her latest release.

Veiled, Book 1
Leyla Karimi can’t keep her eyes off the hunky guy living in the house behind her. How could any woman resist ogling Dr. Mason Barrett, especially when he makes it so easy by parading around in his skin and skivvies?
If it was only their age difference, she would have made a move a long time ago. Except Mason is more than a neighbor. He’s her baby brother’s oldest friend. It’s not like they can have a casual fling and walk away in the morning.
Mason’s been doing a little lusting—okay a lot—for quite some time. When he catches Leyla peeking, it’s a sure sign she could finally be ready to heat up his nights with loving. One taste of her lips, though, and he doesn’t want a “little” of anything. He wants it all.
Unwilling to jeopardize a lifetime of friendship for a one-night stand, Leyla is reluctant to throw caution to the wind. When he’s kissing her senseless, though, it’s hard to remember all the reasons why she should hold back…
Warning: Contains a hot hero who doesn’t mind baring it all in the name of love, a heroine who doesn’t settle for less, a sweet romance, steamy sex in a car and more good lovin’ in bed.
Alisha was kind enough to indulge me by answering my three very important questions on ebooks and technology, and I’m happy to report that on the evil scale she falls somewhere between Ann Aguirre & Keith Melton. (I’m not telling you which of those is more evil, you have to guess for yourself.)
#1) Why do you write ebooks? Aren’t you worried that you’re contributing to the eventual fall of civilization at the hands of the robot overlords?
I write ebooks because they allow me to concentrate more on writing the stories simmering in my brain and less on what’s “hot.”
Also, I like them because I am, as you say, a robot overlord. You fools are all playing right into our hands! My brethren, who you refer to as “Tivo” and “George Foreman grills” have already insinuated themselves into your daily life. It won’t be long now, dear mindless followers. Not long at all.
#2) Some say the world will end in robots, some say in zombies. Which are you?
I pray that it’s zombies. Some reasons why:
- Zombies are still physically vulnerable, and therefore, killable. While you still might be able to take down a robot, it would take a lot more technical knowhow than I possess. If it’s robots, I’d probably just disembowel myself and call it a day.
- Zombies are stupid. Which is ironic, given all the brains they eat.
- I just went to Costco today and I have a huge pack of tuna cans. (The tuna can be fed to the zombies in lieu of my brains. Or I can eat it during the zombie attack. I like tuna.)
#3) Finally, the greatest question of our time: Caveman vs Astronaut. Who’s gonna win that epic battle?
My gut says Caveman. Astronaut is dependent on his TOYS, man. Take away the million dollar shuttles and bajillion dollar breathing suits, and all you have left is a super athletic, genius level individual.
Sooo…now that I think of it that way, I don’t know why my gut still says Caveman. Maybe I have a subconscious affinity for unibrows?

Hahaha – loved the interview! Alisha maybe you picked Caveman because the instinctual association is violence and survival? And though the astronaut might be a super fit genius, his penchant for violence might be less. You know, brute force not being high brow and all that.
I’m skeptical of you now, though, Alisha. This interview is full of awesome… yet on twitter you keep talking about… >.<
Also, Veiled Desire and Glutton for Pleasure both sound fabulous. I love the “forbidden” relationships. The- we know each other and we’re cool, but we really want each other but don’t want sex to mess things up.
And as for Veiled Desired, I group that under “friend to lovers” loosely, which is one of my favorite tropes.
Hmmm, limecello, you may be correct. Caveman is all sheer strength and willpower. Surviving by nothing but your wits and muscles. Also, my first taste of romance had heroes that were loosely patterned after neanderthals o.O.
Yes! Friends to lovers is my favorite trope, seconded only by brother’s best friend to lovers (which is very much Veiled Desire). Its sequel, Veiled Seduction, also has a friends to lovers kind of plot.
.
Why, Ms. Cello, I don’t know of what you speak. O:)
Ha! That reply cut out all my block quotes. Well, you can fill in the blanks.
I am deeply shamed that “She’s my best friend’s little sister! OH NO WHEN DID SHE GROW UP?” is like, my favorite trope ever. It’s sick, how fast I’ll buy a book for that alone.
(So now you have to write THAT variation of the brother’s best friend for me, right?
)
Will do. As long as we’re allies, I’ll keep you happy.
*snicker* I’M NOT FOOLED BY THAT ANGEL EMOTICON!
Dude, the angel emoticon FOOLS ALL.
Aha..must go stock up on tuna…it is a good alternative to the zombies eating brains.
Having not read Alisha yet, I would pick Cabin Fever!
Loved the interview. Great answers. Haven’t read any of Alisha’s books yet but Glutton for Pleasure is on my TBB list. Menage, like it.
I’ve already read Glutton for Punishment and Cabin Fever and really enjoyed them. Love the falling for your brother’s best friend storyline, so Veiled Desire is up next on my wish list. Great picks Beth and Mandi, you will love Alisha’s storytelling.
Thanks Cathy!
Bree,
We are still allies. Today. And I think I spanked Melton. I’m just sayin.
You know he’ll have his vicious revenge, don’t you? That man just doesn’t know when he’s beaten!
Oh please. His revenge is about as scary as a big eyed puppy.
LOL! Great intreview!!
Cabin Fever looks like a great read. A witch living in the woods to ends up with a hunk on the doorstep…awesome!
Loved the post…very funny.
No need to enter me into the contest as I have all of
Alisha’s books.
I think my preference is for “Glutton for Please” but WAIT, I’ve already read it! LOL oops… then I pick Veiled Desire, more power to the cougars!
So…what if Tivo married a George Foreman Grill, oh Alisha aka robot overlord? Would you end up with babies that can RECORD as you Bake/Griddle/Press your way to food utopia?
And I just wanted to tell you you’re wrong about the Caveman vs Astronaut thing. I settled that yesterday.
Also, I’m shocked you didn’t tell any of your readers about the Shaolin Monk erotic romance you’re writing. I mean, Glutton for Pleasure and Veiled Desire were great books, but Shaolin style lovin? C’mon, that’s what the world needs.
Just sayin’
Stop warning the masses about our new master plan! The Tivo Grills are an integral part.
And
.
Great interview! CABIN FEVER looks great.
Loved Glutton for Punishment and Veiled Desire. I hope Sasha gets knocked on his but by his lady love. Do need to go put Cabin Fever on the reader so I will be all ready for June 1.
LOL, I think everyone’s response to Sasha’s story is “I hope his girl makes him suffer!”
Haha. She does, a little bit
.
Love, love, love the interview! I adored Cabin Fever so I’m going to hope for a chance to win Glutton for Pleasure. Mmmmmm…menage. My new addiction. Wonder what hubby would say?
Hubby would say he is soooo happy to have a wife with a great imagination =)
Hey Alisha,
I loved Glutton for Pleasure & Cabin Fever. They were both such great stories and I can’t wait to read your latest release. I would absolutely love to win Veiled Desire…the storyline is just my favourite type of set-up.
Happy Reading
Anna
Thanks Anna!
LOL
I love the interview. The robots v. zombies and caveman v. astronaut answers are awesome! I think I’d have to agree with them both, especially with the caveman being able to take the astronaut. An astronaut may be supersmart, but the caveman is all about survival.
As for which one Alisha’s ebooks I’d like to try, I’ll have to go with Veiled Desire since I already have both of the other two – and love them!
Exactly! That’s what I’m sayin. See Keith? You were wrong.
Damn it. I knew Tivo was too good to be true.
*rubs chin*
I must admit, I suspected it was plotting against me when I programmed it to record PBS’s “Emma” and ended up with two hours worth of “Full House” reruns.
I loved this interview! I laughed through the whole thing. I especially liked the robots vs. zombies question/answer.
I’d love to read Cabin Fever. I’m crossing my fingers!
Hello! Someone in my Myspace group shared this site with us so I came to give it a look. I’m definitely enjoying the information. I’m book-marking and will be tweeting this to my followers! Outstanding blog and wonderful design and style.
