Crux has a cover flat & Bree has a Hallmark moment

This is the book of my heart…on a cover flat. (Okay, that was stretching the whole Brain on Drugs reference a little too far, but you can always count on me to squeeze odd cultural references until they beg for mercy.)

I mostly joke about the whole Book of My Heart thing because I have many books and most of them, at least, have some place in my heart.  There’s the first story we ever sold, the first story we sold to an editor we love working with, the first one to go to print…but Crux will always have one thing that no other book can.  It is the first idea that made Donna and I go, “Heeey, we should write that. Like, as a book.”

We had written a lot of things before, separate and together.  Stories, endless serials, random fanciful ideas and “What Ifs.”  But Crux was the idea that we came up with because we had a magical cast of characters and this vivid world in our head, and like all good n00bs we had six sequels planned out because well, obviously it’s just that easy.

It’s not.  And yet there’s a shiny cover flat, and the second book is coming out in February, and we’re working on the third one now and planning ideas for the fourth one and whoa, how did we get here from there?

I think our husbands would be the first to provide the answer: you never stopped working.  And while I know that I have busted my backside and given up such trivial things as sleep, free time and hobbies, I still don’t stop feeling grateful and lucky every day that I get to write awesome stories and sometimes people read them and enjoy them.

So…Crux in print January 1st.  I’ve got my excited face on!
