Ok the weirdest I've ever seen up close is a hedgehog. So, it was from the local zoo, and you could pet them, but it was pretty cool. I didn't think petting a hedgehog was possible.

The strangest was an insect not really an animal. It was so huge I could not believe it. It was about the size of two of my husbands hands. Maybe 6" wide in the middle and 10" long. It looked like a giant moth. Brown in color with circle markings on its wings. It was on the wood fence in my yard. This was about 12 years ago. I've never seen the like since then. Still not sure exactally what it was but I call it the Giant Moth.

I live in the suburbs, so not a lot of exotic animals around - we have the cats, dogs, skunks, armadillos, lizards, mice/rats, rabbits and of course the Coyote- right in the middle of the back road in the middle of the night - and let me tell you - this coyote did not back down - stared at my car and didn't move - I had to swerve to miss him ( had to be male, a female would have leapt out of the way!).

Strangest creature - I guess would have to be my pet bearded dragon, Leroy. Scaly & smelly and nothing like I would expect a dragon to be... and he would sleep for MONTHS. Way weird to watch him eat crickets though... and even weirder that crickets managed to escape and populate our home!
